The Average “Pages-Per-Minute” Speed for Copiers By Industry
Scroll down to see the different charts below!
What is “Pages Per Minute” AKA “PPM”?
Pages per minute is a specification for every copier and printer that refers to how many pages it will print (print or copy) in one minute.
What’s so important about “PPM”?
The higher the PPM of a machine, the faster your print job will be finished.
A faster machine, however, is more expensive than a lower PPM machine.
Finding the balance between price and PPM is key when purchasing a copier.
What are the PPM Averages of different Industries?
Below are 9 different industries we studied from our own customers, finding out what was the current speed of their machine and ability to print B&W or color.
Should my PPM speed be the same as the average?
Not necessarily, the PPM of your machine should be dependant on multiple factors, such as:
- Affordability
- Number of users
- Typical daily print jobs
A great rule of thumb when deciding between PPM speeds is “The more users on a single machine, the higher the PPM should be”. That’s because demand for the machine will be higher, and the time for a single job has to be shorter to accommodate all users within a single day.
