Finishers for Canon Copiers

Canon Copiers have optional equipment called finishers that allows the machines to perform multiple jobs. Finishers are optional pieces of equipment that can be added to multifunction devices to give them additional features.
The Canon C5500 and the C910 offer multiple finishers that can be added to each machine.
The C5500 is made for an office space. It is a color copier that prints at 35 PPM or 18PPM when using 11″ x 17″ paper. It’s max paper size is 12″x 18″ and its standard paper capacity is 1200.
The C910 is designed to be production focused. This machine can handle a variety of different paper weights and sizes, while still printing at a high quality. It can print at 3 speeds, 70, 80, and 90 PPM. It has a max paper size of 13″ x 51.2″ and it can reach a max paper weight of 350 GSM or 130lb Bond.

Different Types of Finishers
Internal Finishers
Internal finishers have the capability to staple and hole punch documents. In some cases, they are also able to tri-fold booklets.
These finishers are not designed to handle a large volume of printing.

External Finishers
External finishers have the capability to staple, hole punch, and collate documents. There are generally two sizes associated with external finishers, 1000 sheets or 3000 sheets. These different sizes are able to handle different types of volume.
These finishers will generally be able to staple 50 sheets of 20lb paper. Larger finishers will be able to staple 75-100 sheets of 20lb paper.
The thicker the paper means the lower the amount of sheets you can staple at one time.

Booklet Finishers
These finishers have the same features as most external finishers. The big difference here is that booklet finishers are able to make half-fold and saddle-stitched booklets.
The max average number of sheets in a saddle-stitch booklet is 15-20 sheets of 20lb paper.

Bridges
Bridges are needed if you want to add external finishers to your machine. This feature will allow your machine to carry paper from your copier to your external finisher.
